Bread and Light for Ukraine

Bridges Idaho supports our community members from the Ukraine. Lena Contor has taken many trips to the Ukraine to bring solar-powered Luci Lights, medical supplies, and warm winter gear to Ukrainian people suffering from power outages and shortage of necessities. From Lena Contor’s Facebook post February 17, 2024:

This is why the eastern Ukraine can not sustain themselves with enough bread

Though plenty of fruitful land (Ukraine has 30% of the world’s top soil and used to be the breadbasket of the USSR and Europe) most of it is still mined and there isn’t enough men in the country even to defend it not mentioning that there aren’t extra man to defuse the mines…

Some people have them in their own gardens …

People can’t plant their gardens, they can’t even go to the woods to pick firewood …

On my next trip to Ukraine we will buy flour and firewood in the western Ukraine and deliver it to the East. The bread is distributed for free daily where people are still living near the frontlines.

The Bread and Light for Ukraine fundraiser raised money for flour and firewood for the eastern Ukraine.
